It will be fast...it will be long...have you got legs that are strong?
Manx Road Club will be promoting a 25 mile individual time trial on Sunday 17th April.
The course will be the usual 25 mile course starting at Rhencullen taking in Sulby bridge, St-Judes, The Cronk, Summerhill Road, Ramsey and finishing on the Ballacrye road.

There was a great turn out for today’s Island Games fundraising event.
73 riders contested the 25 mile team time trial in near perfect conditions.
Unusually for this type of event, all teams managed to finish - with some fast times! The dry, sunny weather with a light breeze probably accounted for this but please note that 'The Management' cannot guarantee these conditions for any future events!

During the last committee meeting there was a discussion around whether any club members would be interested in visiting cycling events off island if the club organised travel, accomodation, entry etc. Travelling as a group is likely to result in savings on travel costs e.g. sharing mini-bus, group discounts etc.

This year's 10 Mile Time Trial League is sponsored by Canada Life and there is a change of venue, change of course and change in number of events. The first event is on Wednesday 27 April.
The start and finish will be at the Mountain View Innovation Centre just outside of Ramsey and formerly known as the IOM Film Studios. There will be indoor changing facilities, showers and also a kitchen for making tea and coffee etc.

As you are probably aware, the Youth Tour takes place during the weekend of 30 Apr/1 May and Emma and Erica are asking for help with more volunteer marshalls.
There are sufficient marshalls for Sat afternoon on the Ellerslie course it is just the other road events that need help.

Another great result for Tom Mazzone riding for Pedal Heaven Excel Academy in the Eddie Soens Memorial race with a fine 17th place, some 6 seconds off the winner, Bertie Newey, who was the first and only 3rd Cat rider to ever win the event.
Ian Wilkinson and Jack Pullar were 2nd and 3rd respectively, both also riding for Pedal Heaven and 8 of the top 20 places were filled by Pedal Heaven riders. Another fine result for Tom's team.

Mark Cavendish secured a 4th world title on Sunday by winning the Madison at Lea Velopark in London partnered by Bradley Wiggins in front of a packed house.
Cav used his speed and acceleration to rack up points during the sprint laps during the early stages of the race and Wiggo then used his endurance skills to establish a break from the main group on lap 20 and worked with Albert Torres from Spain to gain a lap, which then put them on the same lap as the leaders and ...Read Full Post »

A big congratulations from the club to Tom Mazzone - riding for Pedal Heaven this year, he kicked off his season riding a classic opening race Perfs Pedal Road Race where he achieved a fantastic podium 3rd place on 14th February .
The race was won by Rory Townsend from Pedal Heaven, 2nd was Mitchell Webber from Pedal Heaven and 3rd Tom Mazzone also from Pedal Heaven - a great start for Toms new team.

The Manx International is back and what an event it looks to be! Put the date in your diary Sunday 10th April why not volunteer to help out with marshalling duties or event enter the support race and have the chance of putting your hands in the air infront of a packed out audience.

Mark Cavendish (Dimension Data) won the opening stage of the Tour of Qatar after the best sprinters in the race fought for victory on the Al Kohr Corniche.
Laxey man Mark Cavendish beat Sacha Modolo (Lampre-Merida) and Andrea Guardini (Astana) after coming off Alexander Kristoff’s wheel and opening up his own sprint as the Norwegian faded to finish fifth. Fresh from his impressive win at the 2nd edition of the Cadel Evans Great Ocean road race Team Sky professional Peter Kennaugh starts the Herald Sun Tour in Melbourne Wednesday evening. Starting with a 2.1km prologue round the streets of Melbourne Kennaugh joins Froome, Rowe, Boswell, Gomez and Puccio over the 4 day race. Two local riders and Onchan resident Ben Swift start the Dubai tour on Wednesday. Cavendish riding for Team Dimension Data will be hoping for a repeat of last year where he won the General Classification. The race starts with a 179km stage on Wednesday followed by three further though days.
