Fred Kelly Road Race - Sunday October 5

 

 

Rider and Spectator Information 

The 2008 Fred Kelly road race will take place on Sunday October 5 on a new course but it will retain the classic hill top finish up Tholt-y-will.

Signing On and Start Time

Signing on will commence from 8.15am at the Bungalow with a neutralised start from the Bungalow at 9am.

The Route

After decending Tholt-y-will behind the lead car the peleton will stop at Sandygate cross roads where riders will be able to hand tops and capes to race organisers before the race gets underway from Sandygate cross roads. the course then turns left at Summerhill then onto the coast road then back to Sandygate via the Cronk (see map)

Number of Laps

The A and B category race will be run together and will consist of four laps, a total of 46.8 miles (including the neutralised zone)

After four laps riders will turn right at Sandygate and proceed towards Sulby cross roads where the Police will be on hand to marshall riders across the road and in the direction of Tholt-y-will.

Riders must follow instructions from Police and Marshals at all times

The event is the final round of HSBC road series.

 

 

Other Important Information

  • Riders must not pass the lead car during the neutralised zone
  • Riders must obey all Police and marshals
  • Riders must obey the rules of the road at all times
  • Please be courteous to all road users, members of the public, marshals, police and your fellow riders
  • Please keep the road clear at the start / finish area
  • Have a great race

Spectator Information

  • Would all spectators please keep the road clear of cars, especially at road junctions and on the Tholt-y-will climb. Please park in the resevoir car park if spectating on the climb

Social Afterwards

There will be a social afterwards at the Creg ny Baa, everyone is welcome
